I’ve never heard a cheetah calling her cubs, but I’ve seen a mama raccoon calling her half-grown cub up a tree onto our roof. She chirped too. It was rather sweet, even though she was calling him up so he could get into our attic. :(
I am not missing her. I’ve been watching that rhymes-with-witch slither in and out of the strip for years, wreaking havoc wherever she goes. I would like to think she’s never coming back, but maybe Greg will leave her on ice for several years and then bring her back, looking for fresh meat….
That hospital is the Steere House Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Rhode Island, a care facility for dementia patients. The book Making Rounds With Oscar, by Dr. David Dosa, describes how Oscar somehow knows when a patient is dying, and sits on the bed till the patient dies and is taken away. The book is about not only the cat, but the patients he kept watch with, and their families who remember Oscar. I recommend the book highly.
