As a student of history I’ve learned that its not really appropriate to view such events as the Inquisition through a modern lense of right and wrong. Modern views on government, theology, and morality are too far removed from the actual experience of the people who lived at the time to give us a proper understanding of WHY people acted in such and such way. For example, the attempted genocides during the Nazi holocaust and more modern ones like Rowanda or Kurdistan would have been viewed as proper acts of war by the people of the ancient Mediterranean.
Yep. Treat your employees like children who need constant monitoring and you get employees who act out and rebel. It reminds me of, “you must clock out for smoke breaks”, “your computer use is being logged”, “all employees need to carry these new tracking badges” and other nonsense. Basically these petty monitoring systems are simply in place to compensate for poor hiring and mentoring. If you’re an employee and they start to do this to you it probably means that your company is not really helping your career, and if you are an employer and contemplating these things before wasting money on expensive watchdog devices its probably a good idea to overhaul the HR department.
The priorities are all messed up. They should be eating his heart to gain his power.
