    the concept of eleven on a scale of one to ten comes from the movie “this is spinal tap”, a mockumentary about a heavy metal bad, who, on one of their amps, adds an eleven above the ten on the volume control, then forces the knob to eleven. i’ve always seen it as a metaphor about reach exceeding grasp

    curiously, i’ve never seen any transformers references with any of the nerds in this comic, strange, since transformers have been around almost thirty years, and as much a part of american pop scifi culture as star wars, star trek, dr. who, battlestar galactica, or any other scifi continuity. but i’m predjudiced, i’ve always been a transformers geek myself
