March and April is a great time of year for bike racing fans. The spring classics, and four monuments. The biggest one-day races (Flanders and Paris-Roubaix). I do what Frazz does – ride, come home, do not go to any cycling websites, and then watch it on Tivo.

Like Frazz, I’m at the pool at 0500, except on mornings when I ride my bike to work. On those mornings, I leave my house at 0430. If I run in the morning, I usually start my run at 0515 – after driving to work and running from the gym there. On the rare morning that I don’t swim, bike, or run, I sleep in until 0445 and I’m at work at 0530.

Runners (and cyclists) love coffee. It’s a performance enhancing drug we embrace.

I just had my big mug of coffee, and then I am headed out for my Christmas morning run. Frazz gets it right – I will have the quiet world to myself, and while running I will reflect on how fortunate I have it.

The Paris-Roubaix race is tomorrow. The coach is trying to say two racers’ names in the 2nd and 3rd panel — Philip Gilbert and Fabian Cancellara, both favorites (but neither is racing this Sunday). BTW, even if you don’t follow bike racing, try to watch Paris-Roubaix, which will be televised live on NBS sports on Sunday morning. IMHO it is far more exciting that the Tour de France.
