to the tune (more or less) of Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious:

Oh, a BuddyBomb’s your buddy now, we’re glad you’ve joined the band,No need to fret or worry, we’re the safest in the land,Someone to stand on guard all night, someone to hold your hand,A BuddyBomb’s your buddy and you know life will be grand!

heh. Reminds me of the fistfight from Porco Rosso: stagger towards eachother, punch … both fall down, one from the punch the other from the effort of throwing it … clamber painfully back to their feet, stagger towards eachother again …

Marx kept talking about “the greater good” – he helped Jacob, despite knowing it would end badly, because he knew that if he did not the end result would be something worse. (remember, he’s a time/dimension traveler, and he’s been drinking Oracle tea)

@Cheapskate0 – Mutation may “cure” existing ills – but it doesn’t stop folks from aging. Mona may have been given perfect vision when she first mutated, but thirty years down the line?

If they’re parthenogenic, they may lay eggs on a regular cycle, regardless of mating (it’s that time of month again …), in which case eating the unfertilized eggs makes sense. While they couldn’t survive SOLELY on eggs, eating them at least “recycles” most of the protein/calcium, reducing what would otherwise be a major nutritional drain.

@Wabbit – depends on the species, I think. Among birds, some species are well-hung (mostly water birds, which is why Leda does it with a swan and not an eagle) and some just press cloacas together. Among reptiles, many (most?) are double-hung (insert window joke here) – one hemipene for each testicle.

@JusSayin – pain serves a biological function, warning us of damage. Easiest to just hook the damage-sensors up to the existing pain nerves – especially when you don’t care much about the feelings of the harvested brain …

@wereman – not only a clean edge, but it seems to be slightly curved … as if the area of flat dust is a huge circle? Centered on what, I wonder?

@Veteran, @Darwinskeeper, Veteran’s new icon is Rocket Raccoon from the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy movie. Trailer on YouTube here:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pTZ2Tp9yXyMI’m stoked. I’ve always liked Rocket and looks like they did a good job on him.

Note how unhappy he was about it … the only times he lapsed into “joker mode” were to defuse nasty situations, e.g. making the rats do silly walks instead of letting Jacob et al shoot them all… it seems clear that he was acting from a position of “This is bad, and I don’t want to do it, but if I don’t do this the outcome will be MUCH worse.” My take is that Endtown was heading for despotism regardless, so better to precipitate the crash now, with a semi-obvious villain like Jacob who Endtown might have a chance at overthrowing, than to wait for a smarter and more subtle villain to establish an unbreakable tyranny.
