When we meet people who are doing their job well, we can see that life, economic and social conditions have not prevented them from trying to feel a heartbeat like that again … not all of us have that good fortune, but still we try to make the world a little better than we found it

   “Reading Dyslexia and Other LDs with Piperita Patty” Charles Schulz’s strips, and in particular those with Piperita Patty, were here used in order to raise awareness amongst schoolteachers of all levels, students and their families on the subject of specific learning difficulties and the related new italian legislation. Selected strips have been integrated into some significant passages of the text of the italian law in order to draw up a free publication (thanks to the grant of rights by Peanuts Worldwide) made available on the website of the Regional School Office of Emilia-Romagna. The purpose was trying to outline the complexity of the situations of LDs and the educational intervention keeping it light.

Life, economic status, the wrong ‘advice’ of adults often make them forget that strange beat they had that distant day in their lives. When you meet a good doctor, a good teacher, a good coach, a good priest or wisemen of any religion, a good plumber, a good cobbler … you thank God that they have not forgotten and built brick by brick life to feel their heart beating that way again.

   PP is is dyslexic, Schultz never write that, but you can find lot of clues for detecting dyslexia in her strips … Schultz was a dyslexic boy and used PP to tell how hard is school if dyslexya is not considered by teachers … have a look at Dec 07 1981, Jun08 1987, Jan 31 1992, Jun 8 1989, Sept7 1988, April 19 1995, Nov 13 1990 strips … when my son teacher helped us and him to undestand what means dyslexia and how manage it his life changed from dark to light … Jun 9 1984 strip is perfect to expess how they feel until somebody explain how to manage it !

   1986: last year of high school, last home where I lived with my parents, 10 years before my marriage, I discovered the Italian version of fbafw… The original strip is 1995… Micheal was a kid when I read their strips….

    Yesterday I discovered this comics strip I read when I was young in an Italian magazine, I liked it a lot… Now it is online and my English is OK so I am reading from the beginning… I fill like I am at home… Like yesterday’s one ends!
