   That’s one reason I don’t set foot in a Walmart. They treat their employees like s**t.Also, if you do some comparison shopping online, they overcharge on a lot of stuff.

   I inadvertently watched a small segment of Faux News (it was on in a diner), and the B.S. was propaganda presented as news. It was pretty obvious, but not to MAGAts.

   Clothes for my S.O. : Three pairs of jeans, four sweaters, (one cashmere), three pullover shirts (one henley), a pair of cashmere lined leather gloves that are tech usable, a woven leather belt, and and a book on the way. My daughter and son-in-law got a down duvet, a package of wiri wiri peppers (try to find that in a store!), a pair of Ray-Ban sunglasses, and socks. One brother got a subscription to The New Yorker, and the other got a stainless steel skillet, American made (yes, you can still buy cookware that is not made in China). My sister got a book and a neck. reading light I spent more than I should have, but I love them all.

   We used to wait until the last minute to get a tree. One year, we went to Home Depot and they gave us the tree. It was December 24 and they were closing. This year, we went to an independent tree lot and got a 5’ tree for $50. It’s ideal for us as we don’t. have to use a step ladder to decorate the top. It’s a pretty little tree, but the vendor thought it was a Linus tree, so he gave us a discount. The vendor said they were more expensive and scarce becaue of the fires in Canada. (We live in New England.)

   It was also assumed that people were receiving pensions from the companies where they had spent years. Unfortunately, pensions are not as common as they were when Social Security was established. I manage to get by on SS because my health care is covered because I’m a veteran that served during a war (Viet Nam). I also have a disability, which is enough to cover my mortgage, which is almost paid off. Life is all about timing, and what one puts into it. I worked in IT for over 30 years, which helped bulk up my SS payments. I feel for people that had low paying jobs all their lives. The system isn’t designed for low earners.

   When I was about 9 or 10, we had a Basset Hound that I loved. We had a fenced yard, but a male dog apparently jumped over the fence when Muffet was in heat. We lived in Oklahoma City, so that kind of made me a city kid. She bore 8 puppies from that encounter, and I was by her side when she was giving birth. After the fourth, she looked exhausted and wasn’t pulling the fifth out. I told my mother and she gave me a washcloth and told me I had to help her. So I started pulling out puppies and handing them to Muffet to wash, and then lining them up at their mother’s teats until the last one had emerged. Not all city kids are clueless. After observing the birth of the first four, I knew what to do. This would have been in 1959 or 1960, so it wasn’t like there was such a thing as sex education, especially in Catholic elementary school. Who knows? Maybe girls have a better sense at a young age to understand the cycle of life.

   My favorite Robotman was a strip that featured Spock of Star Trek where he and Robotman are advertising H&R Spock as tax filers. Spock says, “We’ll find deductions in parallel universes!” followed by, “No need to get emotional.” And then Robotman says, “Call H&R Spock today!” I had that on my fridge for a long time, it cracked me up so much.
