I learned last winter that a snowblower will NOT throw a fallen oak branch buried in the snow. Not particularly useful information (I knew it anyway) but an expensive lesson all the same.

I liked it better BEFORE my husband retired. The snowblower got a tune-up every summer, the gutters got cleaned, the yard was mowed regularly. SInce his retirement NONE of that was done this year … so we now have ice dams in the gutters and 5 inches of snow in the driveway and on the sidewalk. I didn’t know retirement from “work” meant at home as well!

Hey, Redhead55: The reason this stuff isn’t getting done is that when you retire, you lose 8 hours each day. Therefore, the “extra” work you once did at home takes longer. Bless your heart–put a snow shovel on your shoulder and walk south. When someone asks you what that thing is on your shoulder, you’ve gone far enough. Move there. :)
