My parents never drove me to any practice; I had a bike and rode. Most of the kids did the same. We considered the ones who were driven by their parents to be Mama’s boys.

All your lives? Won’t there be a lull between him graduating from high school and getting married and dumping the grandkids off on you for babysitting?

My parents had a strict policy that I couldn’t get a car until I graduated from high school. They feared I would fall in with the wrong crowd. I started that same policy with our kids but by the time they were 15 (legal age to drive in this state at that time) my wife and I couldn’t WAIT to get them a car so they could drive themselves to all their activities.

What’s wrong with bikes and public transport? That’s how I got around before I got a car.
