I grew up in Illinois (“Land of Lincoln”) and we always got Lincoln’s Birthday off school, until they combined it with Washington for President’s Day. We also were off on St Patrick’s Day, and the city would dye the Chicago River green. Bars served green beer.

My husband and I celebrate Groundhog Day as our romantic holiday. Valentine’s Day is so commercial.

President’s Day never falls on the actual birthday of any American President, so technically no President really has a birthday as a federal holiday.
