Oh no! I must've left my lunch on the porch when I stopped to retie my shoelace. Rover, run home and bring it here before the bus arrives! Hurry, boy, hurry! Zoom Criminy! Here comes the bus now. Rover, I knew you'd come through! Thanks buddy! School Whatdya have to trade? Lettuce from a sandwich... A dozen cookie crumbs... Six carrot sticks... And a partially eaten apple that someone tried to put the stem back in.

Wasn’t it Mark Twain who said that a dog teaches a boy love, loyalty, and how to turn around three times before lying down? And, wasn’t it “Murphy’s Law” that said, “Never trust a dog to guard your birthday cake” /

I think Rover must be an exceptionally good dog – my dogs would never have left the lettuce, carrot sticks, or cookie crumbs.
