I always get a little teary-eyed at this part. Because it's so touching? Merry Christmas, Charlie Brown! No, because it means I have to go to bed in a few minutes. Hark the Herald Angels Sing...
One year I talked dad into letting my little sister and I hit the sack at dark so santa would come faster while we where asleep. Dad got us up for snacks around 10 pm because I would see the street light shining off the snow and ask if we could get up now. Yep,every hr from 4pm till 10. That was long night. lol
Christmas is so different now…….the Christmas tree never went up until we kids were in bed Christmas eve. I miss the mystery that surrounded us the several weeks before Christmas and the joy that Christmas eve had finally arrived. So exciting! But so tiring for parents.
For Charlie Brown and for The Grinch they sometimes play the whole special, and have a shorter special after it to balance things out. And didn’t another network run another Peanut’s special opposite ABC’s special this year, or was I imagining things?
Now I remember: it was Fox that played a new Peanut’s special at 8:30, after the Ice Age Chrstmas on Fox and after the Charlie Brown Christmas on ABC, while ABC was showing another Peanuts speical opposite the Fox one. I guess ABC doesn’t have exclusive rights to all Peanuts specials.
Hello from the future. Fox and ABC can’t feud anymore because apple bought the rights to Peanuts classic tv specials. So unless you have a subscription to apple, no Charlie Brown for you. Fortunately I bought the DVDs before apple made their move.

I’m still wondering why those Peanuts holiday specials went over to ABC?

I think I had to go to bed too in my younger days. These days, I sometimes want to go to bed – especially after seeing what comes on next.

The blue transitioning into dull orange really gives the sense of that late evening around the TV feel. That plus Red’s pj’s.

Funny strip. When ever it’s Christmas time I always made holiday jokes. Especially in Christmas :)
