The best one on this subject was a story by an archer who wondered how high he could shoot an arrow. Without thinking he shot one straight up. He was then horrified; after thinking he concluded that due to wind currents the arrow was unlikely to come straight down so he did not move. After " the longest couple of minutes of my life" it came down a short distance away. He never tried it again.
