From the beginning- and who have we here? Trick-or-treat! how is that? Mmm, could use a hair more feeling... Again. Oh my, so scary! Trick-or-treat! Young man, too much sugar isn't good for you. Here- have a penny. Aaaaaaa
I remember back then we would go out a night or two before Halloween to participate in “Trick or Treat for Unicef” carrying little orange and black collection boxes. Some adults would give us the raised eyebrow because we were actually supposed to collect for Unicef on Halloween instead of getting candy. Not sure how many kids were that selfless. I figured going a night or two before was a win/win for everyone.
ellisaana: They don’t make them, but they are on hand at the Federal Reserve. Banks won’t circulate them, they have Kennedy on them – same as they won’t circulate $2.00 bills because of Jefferson, the hero of the Populists over a century ago. Banks don’t know the reason, they just follow tradition.
They still make the old “extra compartment” cash registers, it is just that those who work for slave wages can’t read or count well enough for them but require those that have pictures and say what the change should be.

Definitely an old strip, only a penny? In today’s inflated economy it would have to be a quarter if not a half-dollar.
