I grew up in a small town, but being a kid and covering it on foot or by bicycle it was a metropolis of adventure and discovery. Just dragging my sled through the deep snow in the ditches out front of the houses for the length of my block — “going to Antarctica” — was a winter adventure that got me hot chocolate and cookies on my successful return.
