Transcript:
Red: Star light, star bright, first star I see tonight, I wish I may, I wish I might, have this wish I wish tonight. Rover: Comet, comet in the sky, bring me a milky bone, nice and dry. Red: Don't get your hopes up too high. Rover: You as well. Your star is actually an airplane.

Oh no! I did that just last night. “Dummy, that’s an airplane, not a star.”

Once, many years ago, we had a cabin out in the middle of nowhere, with no lights around and I took the telescope out to do a little stargazing. My wife came out to see what I was finding so I was pointing out various stars to her.“That’s Vega and that’s Altair and that’s Polaris” etc. About that time a plane flew over with it’s wingtip lights. “And that’s Mars, the red planet.”

These days you can be fooled by ISS. Even in the light pollution of Houston. Check out http://www.heavens-above.com. No need to register. Select your location and then save the link. It has links for ISS and many other visible passes.

In the Houston area tonight is an excellent ISS pass. 10 degrees above the SW at 7:10 pm going to a high of 83 degrees above the SE at 7:13and goes in the shadow 48 degrees above the NE at 7:14.Brighter than any star in the sky.
