There is a parking lot like that on one of my dog walk routes. And yep a few weeks ago there was a tricked-out-noise-polluter car doing the learn-to-drive rounds. Usually it’s an SUV, mini Van or sedan.
“Red Asphalt” was the scare film we saw, and I also remember the “reaction time” device/simulator that measured how long it took us to move our foot from the gas to the brake pedal when the light turned red. Our high school brought in a twisted, gnarled wreck of a car on a flat bed truck and parked it in front of the school to scare all the students.

Fear can be a powerful motivator, but “scared straight” seems to have little to no practical effect in modifying behavior, ie the Just Say No campaign and others. Those gore porn films never stopped me from speeding or doing stupid things in a car.
Having said that, fear seems to be practically the sole motivating factor for many people in our current climate. Sigh…
