richard's poor almanack by richard thompson handy guide to irish pubs miserable - a fine establishment tommy o'spleen's tommy o'spleen's. a three-story pub offering a differ-ent fight on each floor: religion on the first, politics on the second, sports & general interest on the third. tuesday is lady's nite. the maudlin banshee - enjoy the music of the garrulous drones quartet (daily, noon till closing) in authen-tic irish ambience, including a newly-installed peat bog. they serve only bud-weiser. no shamrocks the maudlin banshee irish pub megans megapub megan's megapub - with a parking lot the size of county cork, megan's offers 5,723 beers on tap, in-cluding old balrog depleted uranium stout. bleariagh na-mnag-hriaebhngniocht's - the guinness on tap is as warm & sluggish as lava, there are tiny pebbles in the soda bread & the bartend-er hates you on sight, with a passion that time will not diminish. other-wise, it's ok.

Been to all of them. But you must realize , they are all in the U.S. The Irish wouldn’t put up with any of them!

with the exception of dublin and dingle, everywhere we stopped it was guinness, harp, smithwicks, or an incredibly horrible concoction called bulmers irish cider. and dingle only because there was some sort of street fair that drew craft brewers from all over ireland.
