Rip Haywire by Dan Thompson for January 11, 2012
Transcript:
Rip: I need to find a way to flee with Axe Jefferson - before his goons hurt my beloved yet annoying family! Prisoners: Quiet your nerves, Wolfe. You'll get your chance for revenge. Grumble. Lawman, I want to thank you for stopping that guard. Rip: No man should get kicked when he's down, friend. No matter what side of the law he's on. Prisoner: Even little old me, ahem - sheriff (heh-heh) cactus? Rip: I said "man," Jefferson.
I watched a John Wayne movie last night (McLintock!) and Rip’s line about being a “man” sounds more like a comment on Jefferson’s moral fiber and sense of fair play rather than the ‘lightness of his loafers’. But that may just be the Duke talking.
