Rip: You got me helicopter lessons? You know I hate safety-based training! Cobra: Just close your eyes and think of "air wolf." TNT: What's he doing? Cobra: I think he's daydreaming of flying a chopper upside down. Rip: Ooo - the McDonald's sign looks like a 'W'!
Airwolf was based on a Bell Model 222; twin-blade rotor, NO GO for loops, rolls, or ANY inverted flight. Blue Thunder was ALSO twin-blade main – plus, according to Roy Schieder, “nose-heavy as the Ayatollah.” That wasn’t a line, it was an ad lib that got left in the final cut.HOWEVER, Bell later came out with the Model 430 – same basic fuselage as the 222, BUT with uprted engines and a FOUR-BLADE main – and that sucker WILL go inverted, long enough for rolls and loops. But, Don Belisario isn’t planning any Airwolf reunions. JMV and JBS are out of the business, Borgnine is dead, and Alex Cord is AWOL. As for the Canadian production team, well, forget that bunch.
