Rip Haywire by Dan Thompson for June 09, 2013

Rip Haywire Rip: TNT, I was right in the middle of telling a very gripping story about my mom! This goon doesn't care about how we met. TNT: Let's see, this lug was bumbling around Kodiak island when he was about to become a rip-eye steak for a bear. That is until I came to the rescue! I leapt in front of Rip, who was quivering behind a tree! I led with a right and then a hard left paw! Ruining what was already a disgraceful set of chompers. Pow! I was a possessed puppy! Nobody was goin' to hurt that helpless lad! Not on my watch! I hurt him so bad - there was a wishing well nearby that the grizzly slumped over to and wished he was never born.

Another shaggy dog story.

tsk … I’d always thought of TNT as the kind of doggie that was a wuss, knew he was a wuss, and was proud of being a wuss.seems here he wants to pretend he’s not a wuss, a whole new side to his character

Wait for it. -About the time TNT finishes his version, the thug will be asleep, so Rip can ka-kick his ka-tuckus. After which, TNT will claim his role was decisive, deceptive, and dethugtive.

This backstory must’ve been the dog’s lie. I recall reading early strips on riphaywire.com (which were unfortunately taken off as well as all other pre-November 2012 strips) and they feature a backstory (via one of Rip’s fever dreams) of how Rip first discovered TNT by hearing his howling and finding him being abused by his old owner (which pretty much builds up TNT’s dark and troubled history), so Rip rescues him and eventually becomes his friend and new owner.

A “rip-eye steak” does not sound appetizing.

Oh, gee. TNT was brave. What happened?
The above line should be ironic font or something.
