Protection from what? That might have worked 1000 yrs. ago, but planes and helicopters fly a bit higher than that.

    THIS CALLS FOR MATH!

    Hi Cube (High Cubic Volume) railroad box car:length: 60’ 9"Width: 9’ 6"interior height: 13’ 1"Interior volume: ~7580 cu. ft(info via: http://en.allexperts.com/q/Rails-Railroad-2468/2010/2/Box-Car-vs-Trailer.htm)

Volume of a US 100 Dollar bill “The size of a dollar bill is 6.6294 cm wide, by 15.5956 cm long, and0.010922 cm in thickness.”http://hypertextbook.com/facts/1999/DeneneWilliams.shtml

    That’s 1.1292 cm^3

    HAHA! Unit CONVERSION IS REQUIRED!1 (cm^3) = 3.53146667 × 10-5 ft^3

Therefor the US $100 bill is

    (1.1292 cm^3) * 3.5314 × 10-5 ft^3 / 1 cm^3 = 3.9878 × 10-5 ft^3

And then the number of bills that could fit in the boxcar is…

    7 550.71875 ft^3 / 3.9878 × 10-5ft^3 = 1.8935 × 10+8 bills

    That’s 189345472 number of US $100 bills.

    or

    $18,934,547,200 dollars

    ~19 billion dollars

    Thats my guesstimate.

I picked up this long-running strip that follows Baldo on my morning comic strips reading list.

The ‘wealthy’ residents of the village must be the ones that own the battery company that is poisoning the poor ones and their children that work in the clothing factory. They may need protection. It’s all fun and games until the revolution starts.

I’ve got no color. Is it just me? Nobody else is complaining.

I cannot stand these b/w versions of Ripley’s. Comics.com always had them in color. That was one of the best things about Ripley’s is the vibrant color that helped illustrate these amazing facts and feats. B/W is dull, boring and has seriously impacted the unique feature of Ripley’s comics.

Buggerlugs, many people have commented about this but apparently either GoComics or the artist doesn’t care.

Whoah! Not so, Nicole. The dailies are colored by the syndicate, not by me. I am just as perplexed as you all are about why they are in black and white today. I’m sure this move from NY to the mid West was a monumental undertaking and is way more involved than clicking on a hand-held device or ordering a burger at the drive-thru…have some patience and let them fix what they have to fix!!!

Some people just exist to complain and the internet is their “soapbox”. Unfortunately it is the way of things now. Always enjoy the strip, John, no matter what color. I have been known to watch movies in Black and White (GASP!) and in 2-D! ( Double-Gasp!)

I’m sure by now that most of us are aware of the huge migration of comics to this site. These things do not happen by magic. I hardly think it’s appropriate to be “calling out” the artist here. If you are not privy to the inner-workings of such things, how can you criticize? I think Mr. Graziano said it best, a little patience might be in order.

Been a follower of Ripley’s for . . . forever . . . and I’ll take it any way I can get it. Of course, color would be nice.
