They don’t call it the ‘Dead’ Sea for nothing!

“…Mom? Where did I come from??..” “Well son, You see.. Your Father and I were at Church..”

I remember going to the drive-in-theaters. We would put down the second seat in the station wagon, pack a picnic basket with food and drinks, the back of the wagon would have blankets and pillows and the kids would be in their pajamas all set for the double features and cartoons. It was a cheap evening and gradually the kids would drift off to sleep one by one…..and then…..peace and quiet!

I didn’t sink in the Dead Sea, and I don’t float well.I wonder whether the drownings are suicides!

Drive-ins went to the wayside for a number of reasons:1. Daylight Savings time – if a double feature couldn’t start until 9pm DST, it ended in early morning.2. Property taxes, land became more valuable for other uses.3. Couldn’t be air-conditioned in summer, etc.

The Dead Sea is the graveyard of the evil residents of Sodom and Gomorrah.

I heard of Drive-In churches, We had a real cool drive-in here in SW PA. It had double screens. Then in ‘77, the one screen was taken down so they could build a McDonalds there. Then in the 90’s, the second screen came down and a Wal-Mart was put in. So long to great memories.

I agree – Van Golu (Lake Van) should be investigated further. (I spent two days in Van in 1964 – great photo op of the sunset.)
