Sgt. Sandra Coast completed basic combat training and was inducted into the United States Army at the age of 51! Every French soldier to serve from the small village of Theirville in Normandy has come back alive in the country's last five wars- including WWI and WWII! You must be yolking! Steve Hargreaves of Edmonton, Canada, cooked 4 eggs together and each one had a double yolk!

It happened to me once. I had eleven double yolkers out of the same dozen carton. I don’t care if you believe it or not.

Slow weird news day?
A farm stand near me used to sell local eggs. Sometimes there were whole flats of jumbo ones that were almost all double-yolked.The guy said it was the breed of chicken, which I don’t remember.Their normal eggs had one yolk, but what made some jumbo was having two.I even got a long skinny egg in one flat that had two regular yolks plus a tiny third one…That day I could have fried a pan of four eggs with NINE yolks.

I all my life I have yet to come across a double yolk. My Dad had one recently but I’m deprived. Or depraved. Have never caught a fish either despite many attempts. Sad isn’t it.

Tog — you need to buy jumbo (UK Very large) eggs, and pick the carton with the tallest ones, rather than squat fat ones, to have a good chance.

Definitely buy jumbo eggs and “tall” ones as Susan Sunshine says. I once got nine double yolks in a dozen but I have also gotten none.

The French have always been good at surrendering.

Yeah, they don’t tend to kill those who surrender.

Too bad Graziano preempted us all with the yolk/joke pun.

@Tog,Okay, ‘the die is ’cast’‘. I’ll take the ‘bait’. You ‘lured’ me into it! Are you ‘fishing’ for sympathy? Don’t try to ‘worm’ your way out of it! I’m sorry; i’m ‘hooked’ on puns, so don’t ‘egg’ me on! If you don’t like them, please don’t fire until you see the ‘whites’ of ‘my’ eyes! If I ever stop these plays-on-words, it will be a ’mackerel"!

For a moment, I read “51” as “5!” Now I see that Graziano makes weird exclamation points.Maybe Thierville is full of cowards.

What are the other three wars in which men from Thierville have served? The Indochina War? The Algerian War? The Suez War of 1956? The first Gulf War against Iraq? The Libyan War? The Afghan War? Or wars before the Great War?

We once found an egg that had no shell at all- just a tough papery skin. We showed it around, then threw it out. No way we were gonna eat the thing. I called it “Uncle Beazley”, for reasons no one is likely to remember.
