In August 2013, a woman from New Zealand drove over 180 miles at night while asleep and had no memory of the trip. There are more than 1000 different types of bats- that's one quarter of all mammal species on earth. King Edward II of England banned soccer in 1314!

And what was wrong with playing soccer in the early 14th century England?

I’m not much of a soccer fan, either.

“Not”: Association football (aka “soccer”) didn’t even exist until 1863.
Perhaps he banned “football”?

Was it ever “UnBanned?” Might explain why it attracts so many Hooligans

There were stories a few years ago of people taking a sleep aid (or some other medicine) and doing things while asleep, for which they had no memory.

Soccer grew into the world’s biggest sport anyway. Gambling action, money for franchises, players, concessions, etc., make the NFL look like a kindergarten exercise.

King Edward III banned soccer in 1365 owing to the growing incidents of violence and military indulgence in the sport. In 1424 King James I of Scotland also proclaimed in the Parliament— “Na man play at the Fute-ball” (No man shall play football). From The History of Soccer

Lots of people don’t remember driving. I have a trucker friend who once drove from Calgary to Saskatoon without remembering a thing.

Driving while sleeping is not all that uncommon, while I have not done it in many years I used to do to it every once in awhile.
Once on a 400 mile trip from Lower to Yoopee I was talking with my brother when this guy in the back seat joined in the conversation.
Couple hundred miles later the guy said he needed out at the next road. I let him out and turned to my brother and asked, “Where did you pick him up at?”
He told me, “I didn’t, I thought you did.”
Apparently I was sleeping through a couple turns at a light where he was thumbing and he thought we were offering him a ride.
I’ve often wished I knew where to contact this guy just to see the look on his face when I told him he had ridden with a couple of sleeping guys.

I think the problem was that it was taking too much time away from archery practise.

I don’t remember most of the 70’s . . .

Football is universally popular because all you need is a ball of any kind and feet.

I’ve heard of dissociative fugues. Sure she wasn’t awake on some level?

The weirdest part of that woman’s drive was that she ended up in Australia.

Back in the summer of 1990 I left the mill I was working at just after mid-night. I lived only 15 minutes and 5 miles away. I left the parking lot and the next thing I know I am pulling into my drive way. From my point of view I had driven less than a hundred feet. I was like “WTF?”. I checked my watch and it was after 2AM. The next morning I found mud all over the right front of my car. That is 2 hours of my life that I have no memory of. I quit that job the next day.
