The hognose snake plays dead by lying on its back, lolling its tongue and giving off the odor of carrion. The average 70-year-old person has grown and replaced seven complete skeletons over the course of their lives. A dead sardine is carried in a casket through the streets of Portugalete, Portugal, as part of the Funeral of the Sardine Festival every Ash Wednesday.
