In 1970, Alan Fish was killed when Manny Mota hit a baseball into the crowd at Dodger Stadium in LA- the only person ever to have been killed by a ball hit into the stands, even though an average of 30 such balls are hit in each Major League game. The Mount Lyell salamander of the USA is able to curl itself up into a ball and roll down hills to escape predators, absorbing bumps like a tire.
