Transcript:
The 18th century English pirate Edward Low would cut the ears and lips off rival captains and then roast and force-feed them their own body parts! Public dancing was banned in Elmore City, Oklahoma, until 1980- the town was the inspiration for the 1984 movie Footloose. The International Potato Center in Peru, the country where potatoes originated, contains thousands of different varieties of potatoes preserved for future generations.

Sorry, the only roasted ears this girl wants to eat are of the corn variety.

Potatoes preserved for future generations, makes me think of a huge freezer stuffed with tater tots!

I never knew about Elmore, but Henryetta OK banned dancing for many years (the ban was still in place when I left Tulsa in 1978).

How do you ad block?
Brown Leghorn about 10 years ago
Being rude is now an accepted thing now, especially with the people that place these ads. If I could travel time I would send them to Ed Low to try the pop-up on his Lower Quarter deck

What I learned today: Edward Low would force-feed people well-preserved roasted potatoes if he caught them dancing in public.

Is there a reason you’re posting essentially the same message on a myriad of strips? As people have been responding on all of them, try AdBlock. I think you have to convert to a Google Chrome browser, but it’s free and those who’ve done it say it works. Otherwise, would you prefer GoComics charge all of us to access their content because they drop those pesky pop-ups that bring them enough revenue to keep this site free? I don’t like the ads, either, but understand why they’re here.
