A special Bicentennial flag stolen in 1976 from a park in Manchester, New Hampshire, was returned by a remorseful thief in 2014- with an apology. Nike's slogan, Just Do It, was inspired by the last words of Gary Gilmore, a murderer on death row! Gugulothu Lachiram, from Khamman, India, performs yoga while riding a motorcycle!

I don’t even remember such a story last year about the 1976 flag being stolen then returned.

Gilmore was executed by firing squad in Utah back in ‘77.As I recall reading in the paper at the time, he was quoted as saying, "Let’s do this."

I find it hard to believe that a major international brand like Nike would use a killer’s last words as their long-standing slogan….

I find the “just do it” bit hard to believe, but apparently it’s been corroborated by Weiden of Weiden & Kennedy, Nike’s ad agency. Of course, Gilmore’s last words were “Let’s do it.”
