Martin Luther King Jr. and Coretta Scott King spent their wedding night in a funeral parlor instead of a hotel. Honk!! Honk!! In Arkansas, it is illegal to honk a horn at a sandwich shop after 9:00 p.m. Ed Smiley works at Friendly Kia in New Port Richey, Florida!

No hotel where they married would rent rooms to black people. Coretta’s Mother once bought a school bus so the black kids in the neighbor hood could get to school. Aledo, Texas for many years didn’t allow black kids in the schools. In the early days of the city, land for the schools was donated by a black man.
