God is the only reoccurring Simpsons character drawn with five fingers on each hand. Cheese is the most stolen food in the world! American Civil War General Ambrose Everett Burnside's unique facial hair inspired the term sideburns.
French fries are the most stolen food, as you are eating them, by whomever you are eating with. Bottles of champagne when LeSean McCoy is around is a close second.
It was mentioned a few years ago that the comic authority regulated the number of fingers. A four finger comic character was not human, where as a five finger character could be a human. The four finger characters could smash, stab, and blow up each other, POW, BAM! And come back to life. The four fingers are just a left over “law” from the old days of regulation. This is just the gist of the article, SMASH, ZINGGGG!
I’ve noticed at a few 24 hour grocery stores that the cheese is locked up during the “midnight shift”… because it gets stolen so often. If I was hungry homeless and without a penny to my name… and I had to steal to eat… I would steal cheese. Provides more long term energy than bread (carbs), doesn’t go bad as fast as other proteins (meat), and has a high quantity of food per volume (i.e. is dense).
I had to look up Ambrose Burnside, and learned that he fought for the Union side in the Civil War. He was a U.S. Senator for Rhode Island. I half expected to learn that he had switched sides during his military or political career; no disappointment there.
oxforddictionaries.com though thumbs have certain similarities to fingers, there are some key differences. It’s therefore more accurate to describe a thumb as one of five digits that we have on each hand, rather than as a finger.

How can cheese be the most stolen food? I don’t believe it, Ripley.

Is that why yelling, “Natcho Cheese”, while chasing someone is so common?

Looking at Burnside, I think he may have inspired the Star Wars Stormtrooper helmet design, too.
