Yawn Yawnfest! At London's annual Boring Conference, mundane topics like sneezing, toast, or codes and the sounds vending machines make are discussed! Palm trees grew at the North Pole about 53 million years ago! Slow poke! It would take a snail about 220 hours to crawl one mile!

You must mean South Pole, not much land at the North Pole

WOW! The North Pole had Global Warming way back then?

Now that I think about it, what sounds DO vending machines make?
PMark over 8 years ago
Does that mean the land that is now at the North Pole was growing palm trees, or that the palm trees were growing at what was then the North Pole?
Max Starman Jones over 8 years ago
You forgot to mention that at the Boring Conference they watch snails to see how far long it takes them to crawl a mile, then watch the North Pole to see how long it takes to grow a palm tree, then they write these things down and send them to “Believe it or Not.”

220 hours to crawl a mile? What would that be in furlongs per fortnight?

Yawnfest sounds alot like Congress in session! Incompetence in any organization busies itself with trivia or small matters to avoid the meat of matters and hard judgement calls that reveal and expose their feebleness!

HEY! Toast is exciting! And delish!

The cores brought up at the north pole show what was happening in that area 53 million years ago. That area was not the north pole 53 million years ago. Continental shift moves and still does move land (continents) around.

Was that before the shift of the magnetic poles?
wjones over 8 years ago
I also believe the earths magnetic core shifted sense then witch would change the north pole position.

Maybe he could do it faster if he didn’t have to take his house with him.

No, I pulled that one out of the air, not realizing that FFN had been dreamed up earlier. I attended WIU (Macomb, Ill) 1957-58 and then ITC (Ft. Wayne, Ind.) till 1961. Then the US Army was waiting.Manzarali was a “secret” cold war listening post near Ankara, Turkey. On a tall hillNear a major highwayDistinctive Army buildingsAnd acres of antennas!Researching FFN: NASA will not accept anything speced in FFN. Unit may have been useful in stagecoach travel days?
