I wonder right now… does double-proxy weddings still work if one or neither participant that’s a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints isn’t present for their sealing at the Church’s temple in Billings (the only temple in Montana)? I personally would think not.
How could such a marriage be legal? What form of authorisation do you give to someone to be your proxy for the purpose of marriage? Sort of like I’ve got something better to do on the day so I’ll send in a “pinch hitter”.The way the story is presented, I assume some US states allow one proxy weddings? The depiction implies proxy by not actually being present which appears to be a gross misinterpretation. I’m confused!!
