Corky: I'd love a stick of peppermint chewing gum... But can you offer a guarantee that I will not have to endure... The same invasive behavior that you are experiencing now?
Jimbo: I cannot.
Corky: Keep your gum.
cats generally detest the flavor of peppermint, especially in their food. some vet medications (ie: aluminum hydroxide) use it as a flavor enhancer, and then the vet will decry that your cat is obviously too sick for the medicine to help. self-realization. the cat will starve to death rather than eat the peppermint laced food.
Scruff of the neck is okay for kittens (their own mothers do it), but for full grown cats it hurts. Better to put an arm under their butt in a sitting position, back to you, and your other arm under their front legs. Then hop around one one foot. This amuses them.
Mine liked bananas and Albacore Tuna…tried to give him a treat one day with just regular tuna and he looked at me like I was crazy! Regular Tuna! Hehehe
I had a cat who loved pepermint smell too, when I would eat strong pepperming candy she would come sit at my shoulder or chest and loved me to blow gently at her so she could smell it. Or if I had peppermint aroma therapy oil going she would sit near it and for a looonngg time sniffing away!

My cat likes the smell of Icy Hot. It drives him crazy, to the point of us locking him out until the smell subsides.
