I bought a new premium dry cat food and blended it in with her old food. She was eating and got several pieces of the new food in her mouth, stopped, took her paw and picked out the previous brand onto the floor, and finished the food in the dish.
I have several cats and one is and indoor/outdoor kitty but the rest are strictly indoor. I keep 2 windows open for the others and they get to see the birds and squirrels and hear the sounds so they don’t feel too left out. The one who goes out is spayed and street wise. We live way off the main road on a private road and she knows to go up our road only so far. If we go for a walk, she stops about 2/3 the way up and waits for us then walks with us back down to the house when we return. All of them can be picky eaters though. It took several attempts to satisfy everyone.
My friend is a full-time RVer. My cat and I traveled with him to Mexico and through the southwest. Before we left he bought a large wire drawer from Home Depot and put it in the window. With a towel in the bottom my cat had a view of the outside and was still inside and safe.

Peekaboo is a silly kitty, and does anyone need a crossbow? I got enough for everyone to defend their cats with from the cat-haters who can’t take a hint.
I only wish my neighbors would keep them indoors (or at least all spay/neutered). The only thing worse than their constant prowling thru my garden is the occasional night time howling indicating that owners have NOT done due diligence.
We had a dog that did this, though she was much to big to get even one paw in the bowl. She would knock all the food out of the bowl and then pick and choose which pieces she wanted to eat. Always made a big mess.

I don’t hate cats. — if you parboil them first for seven hours, they always come out tasty.

I believe in keeping the kitties indoors. My 4 cats are all fixed indoor kitties. Cats live more than twice as long if they’re kept indoors.

The male downstairs was grooming our little female until we had her spayed. She was so bewildered when he batted her away when she approached him.
