Rose: ...And the reaction is always the same... "But I don't like brussels sprouts!" Pasquale: Ha! I remember those days! May I have some more, please? Rose: ...And Pasquale was fast-forwarded...just like in your dream, Jimbo! Jimbo: He had a second helping of brussels sprouts?

I will be 55 in April, and I am proud to say that I have never eaten a brussels sprout. (There was a time, I’m sure, when it was because I thought I wouldn’t like them; now it’s more a matter of not wanting to break the streak.)

I didn’t try brussel sprouts until I was almost 40. Seven years later I still give my mother grief for not making them when we were kids!
Brussel sprouts drenched in butter, then coated with parmesann…. oh my heavenly goodliness!!!!

I loved ‘em when I was a kid (as long as mom called them ’little cabbages’), but you couldn’t pay me to eat them now. Either they or I haven’t aged well…

I choked down one or two one evening when I was young. My parents said we couldn’t go to the ballpark to watch a game unless we ate them for dinner. My sisters and I sat at the dinner table for a very long time that night. (My parents later admitted we would have gone to the game regardless of whether we ate the BS or not.) I won’t touch them now.

I know a Mediterranean restaurant that does wonders with Brussels Sprouts – pan fried not boiled.

I don’t go out of my way to make brussels sprouts, but will gladly eat a few if they’re available. Braise in olive oil with minced garlic.

Pan fried with bacon and onion — delicious! My niece loved broccoli from the time she was three, by five she was also loving brussel sprouts, she doesn’t understand why her son hates his veggies.

Mmmmmm, brussel sprouts! Try them roasted with garlic and butter. And it can happen; my boys all love broccoli now.

They’re horrible if overcooked. Delicious roasted.

I haven’t even had breakfast yet but I’m craving those sprouts, which I also didn’t discover until late adulthood. I always liked the way they looked, though, ma petit chou (that’s supposed to be “my little cabbage”. Hope I spelled it right.)

Dogday88: Not to be confused with “ma petit chou chou”, a term of endearment totally incomprehensible to non-francophones.

Thank you all for the wonderful recipes. Brussel sprouts are my favorite veggie. I always pig out on about 14 of them at least once a week….sometimes more Steamed with butter and a tad of salt. YUM!! But the cheese sounds DE-licious!!

Brussels sprouts are just tiny cabbages. I think cooking them that way improves the dishes immensely.
