Dont get it. Arent you supposed to feed the birds DURING the winter and then stop when they can feed themselves? (hopefully they can do that during spring and summer).
Bears have been raiding bird feeders as well as dumpsters, dog food bowls and dog houses here in Central Florida for a few months, now. We’ve had our first actual case of a black bear mauling a woman who was walking her dog. Strange winter for bears…
Safflower seeds rather than sunflower if you don’t want squirrels, the squirrels don’t like them. Don’t put out mixes with millet: it’s the favorite food of non-native house sparrows, which are the hit men of the songbird world. They will actively seek out and kill everything from eggs to nesting parents within any kind of range of their nests with a stab of the beak to the head and have been decimating other species. Please, no millet!
