Preemptive… ah… repeat suggestion:Webcomics are free. You don’t complain about things that are free. You’re free to enjoy them at face value, or visit some other site. Hanging around on a forum to moan and complain about what the artist is doing is less than productive..People like Susan are why comments are no longer allowed on Brooke McEldowney’s comic strips here.
I will continue to read and enjoy this comic, but given the comment above that was posted after a comment I made, I will no longer take any time to read comments of posters here, or offer any. I don’t consider the comments I have made here in the past to be any sort of complaint, and the fact that someone who is not in charge of this forum can take on the self-appointed role of reprimanding me makes posting here no longer a good use of my time.
As of this writing, there are 2 comments on this strip. One from Meowlin, and one from Argythree.
The one(by meowlin) is a self-declared “pre-emptive” suggestion about not complaining about things that are free, and talks about someone named “Susan”. Which is idiotic at best. If someone puts something in the public domain, they should expect criticism. “Free” does not mean "free from criticism’, and all art is a form of speech, open to criticism. In my opinion, Meowlin is not just an idiot, but a complete idiot. Your mileage may vary.
As for Argythree, who won’t take time to read more comments because they once disagreed with what another poster posted… ick. You’re new to this whole “interactive” thing aren’t you? I’m guessing you’re one of those immortals, who only recently woke up from you slumber from 1703. Hint: forum posters express opinions you might disagree with. Get over yourself.
Personally, I found THIS panel quite accurate in its analysis of human (ok, cat) nature. Again, opinions may vary.
The reason this is one of my favorite strips is that is shows ordinary people live ordinary lives in extraordinary ways. And Peekaboo so personifies all the cats I’ve owned, it’s astounding. Can’t do the under-the-tree thing anymore, but I share a hammock now and then with a furry friend. . .

Now is the time to enjoy a good run, little squirrel. And keep an eye on that reader, the moment the book is down…

Again, if you don’t like the adorable kitten, why do you bother looking at this strip?
