Here in the PNW there are hummingbirds that spend the winter so we’ve left out the feeders for them. We’ve also installed heat lights on the feeders so they dont freeze. During the summer a hummer might spend 30 seconds or less on the feeder but in the winter they sit and slurp for minutes at a time.

I guess, the squirrel will not be able to salvage much of the feed.
