January 1945. A three men sitting at a bar in Berlin. First man is crying, second man is laughing hysterically, and the third is smashing his head against the bar.
Bartender says ‘Please, gentlemen, this is a friendly place! No talking politics!’
I agree. It’s only half a joke. A friend of mine became paranoid when he was at the University. He claimed being followed and spied by the Hungarian Secret Service (his father was from Hungary). We had to bring him to a psychiatric hospital. I doubted that he would ever become “normal” again, but he fully recovered and is leading a very successful life ever since (nice family, well-paid job). If that happened today, I might consider that it was no paranoia.

I said years ago when the BlueTooth earpiece things for phones started proliferating – “it’s getting harder to tell the insane from the rude.”
