Polly Hedron: That’s a base thing to say. It will cause division between us. Try to be rational. Using that expression may make me non-functional. You are a constant irritation to me. You are no longer the acute angle you used to be, and need an algebra to keep your parabolas from drooping.

When people ask how our relationship goes, I say, “I’m no longer integer.” Our future looks oblique. I myself need a radical change. So what will be the trigger? Will we ever again operate on like terms? Be back on the same wavelength? Or will we from now on be merely a zero pair?

Re “men being better at math”: In my many years of teaching calculus, the women were fewer in number, and generally outperformed the men. Reason, in my opinion: Women only take calculus if they are talented and/or truly interested in math or a technical career. While that is also true of some men, most are pushed into technical careers by family or societal pressure.

This is a multi country joke. Emathsculated works just as well.
