And to think, in 1958 after 26 years the 3 cent stamp went up a penny.

Yes, and ever since then it’s gone up rapidly. Sometimes because there was to much mail and everyone was overworked, and sometimes because there was to little mail and therefore not enough revenue. A true win-win situation for the government.

THIS is why E-mail was invented!! LOL

Well, I send a check in a prepaid envelope, that the PO gave me, and they come in two days. Easy peasy!!

Uh, email?…on-line banking? The only time we use stamps is for Christmas cards!

On an impulse I bought 100 at the supermarket checkout. Yikes! At 3 bill payments per month it will take me 3 years to use them all. But probably much longer as the 3 remaining bills become payable online. Not to mention that I frequently buy commemorative stamps for variety.

I prefer to use the tagline from X-Files ” Trust No One” Online banking is OK for printing monthly statements and checking to see how much money you don’t have..but my Visa credit card won’t accept my Visa check card and I refuse to pay with my Mastercard….sooo I have to send the greedy so-and so’s a check by snail mail.

I’ve been using online banking for years now and wouldn’t have it any other way. I wouldn’t switch to any bank that didn’t have on-line bill pay capability.

I can’t even trust the post office to deliver my mail to me or not receive someone else’s mail. That Cheers episode that had a monkey deliver Cliff’s mail nailed it.

So easy a caveman can do it - but don’t trust it to a postal employee.

PaulWesley: Christmas cards? Hallmark on-line free talking/musical holiday ecards. Ho ho ho. You of course can order stamps online from the USPS, or order special postage stamps (yes, good in the mail) with your kid’s picture (or whomever’s) on the stamps. It’s an electronic world, all right.

Last couple of times, I actually bought the ‘forever’ stamps at Costco. Cheaper than the P.O. and I was standing in line anyway.

you need stamps for folks, like my Dad, who refuse to get a computer because they ‘don’t need’ one and have no interest in ‘wasting time’ on line.

Forever stamps tell you how long it will take to deliver the mail you put them on. We do everything on line as much as possible but I still like the vending machines at the post office because I collect dollar coins…
