Fer Lefer: Don’t feel bad - we have the Golden Gate Bridge tolls. Started in 1937, I believe, at 50 cents - the people were told it was a temporary toll until the bridge was paid for, and then this great crossing would be free. Of course, a huge bureaucracy soon developed, as happens with government entities, and in 2008, the last time I went across, the toll was $6. Now we have all these administrative costs and salaries that must be paid. The bridge has long been paid for - unfortunately, the Golden Gate Bridge, Highway and Transportation District hasn’t.
