Not much edible meat left that way. Only time I went deer hunting was with an old double-barreled 16 gauge with buckshot. Broke both front legs, so went in quickly for the kill. Very tasty, minimum misery (less than 1 minute) for the deer.

Tried that once with a pair of 155’s. Time of flight was around a minute. Reload and safety, forever. Hard to hit a moving target. SS11 on a water buffalo was a different story.

Back in the late 50’s or early 60’s 2 kids bought and restored a howitzer and started firing into the stockyards somewhere. The NRA was sane then and allowed them to be banned.

20-30 “good guys” with guns among the protesters in Dallas the other night. Took a bomb to take out the bad guy with a gun. So much for NRA logic.

If you were hunting with a Howitzer, you would feel like a million bucks.
