I’ve said that company presidents need to put their homes next to the rivers they pollute, directly downstream from their smokestacks emitting industrial gases if they’re so convinced they’re not harming the environment. Having a nuclear waste dump under their homes would be a nice touch.
Here in San Diego the operator of a shutdown nuclear plant, and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and the California Coastal Commission, decided it would be a good idea to store a couple thousand tons of nuclear waste on the beach. It is 200 feet from the ocean, with a sea wall, about 2 miles from an active off shore fault, there is the main railroad that runs through the storage site, an interstate highway right next door and other major utilities with in 1000 feet. Oh and a city of 64,000 with in five miles, but not to worry everything is fine, you are all perfectly safe, nothing to see here, move along.
Nuclear waste is far from “Perfectly Safe”. But it can be reasonably secured within Yucca Mountain. If that facility does fail, we’ll have a lot more problems from the tectonic movement that could cause that than the limited release of radioactive material.

Yeah, it’s not like the radiation is going to turn politicians into hideous monsters. Well, no more than they already are.

“Capitol” MEANS “building”. To say “capitol building” is like saying “PIN number,” “ATM machine,” or “dead corpse.”

Trump Tower is a ready-made toxic waste dump; put it there. It’ll match Trump’s decor, too!

Silly question.. everyone knows you can not store it anywhere close to where white folk live or work.

Don’t talk about it and it’ll go away…
