I know… many want to aid in making the strip funny. But this reminded me. My grandparents had a very Victorian outlook on life. They informed me (every chance they could) that females are basically worthless… they can not inherit… they are the weaker sex… yada, yada, yada.
When it came to a moment in their life where they needed to make out their Last Wills… they ran into an interesting problem. Due to statistics of our current times… their Wills were for the male to die first and the female to get near to everything. The eldest male was to control everything and dole anything and everything out as he pleased. And when she would die… that eldest male would get everything.
But then a close friend died. That couple had the same setup of Last Wills. But unexpectedly… the female died first. Their eldest son – took everything. He left the father near to nothing. Reports were that he even took off with all the kitchen cookware! What little he had – he charged rent. The rent took off with anything he might have gotten from SSA/retirement.
My grandparents reassessed their life. Their Wills were rewritten. And much of their Victorian beliefs… went very quiet. I quietly was happy about that last part. Welcome to a new century!
Make sure your Will does not be cruel to the ones you leave behind! It might bite you back.
