I think the artist is suggesting that these “more constructive opportunities” Dobbs referred to in his speech consist of (figuratively) picking up s**t for the Republican party. What big opportunities could Dobbs possibly have on the horizon? Books? A little political shmoozing? In his speech, Dobbs gave the impression that people were clamoring for his invaluable insight on running the world. It seems more likely that CNN was clamoring to get rid of him (according to NPR reports). Dobbs was undermining CNN’s place as a “middle of the road” option among networks like Fox News and MSNBC.
