I generally don’t like (but watch) Sandler. But Carrey? Yes, I will tend to defend a fellow Canadian, but he was very good in Batman Forever as the Riddler. Still a bit manic but very likeable in Liar, Liar, and nothing short of excellent in the Truman Show.
More great performances in The Majestic and Eternal Sunshine, and cut but cuddly in Fun With Dick and Jane.
But he was Oscar-worthy as Andy Kaufman in Man on the Moon. If you haven;t seen it, do so now. Brilliant, funny, touching performance. His best yet.
He’s done other good work as well. But I think you do him an injustice if you think of him only as Ace Ventura or one of the Dumb and Dumber guys.
