@MaxLooking at yesterday’s cartoon post and the subsequent comments from our readers, I couldn’t help but notice that there was virtually no empathy or sympathy for the kid who vaulted himself into space with such dire consequences. Our readers, by the very nature of their comments, found the content of this cartoon humorous and even seemed to take delight in the demise of the youngster. Is this what we have all become? People who are quick with a wisecrack, a smirk and a wink at the misfortunes of others? Are we so uncaring that this type of gratuitous cartoon content garners the laughter of others at the plight of their fellow human beings? Are we all so callous? So shallow?
