    Weird. I heard just the opposite–that the “flavonols” in chocolate are good for the heart, but you need to eat a lot of chocolate to get enough flavonols to actually see a benefit. To me that sound much more believable than the “one small piece a day” advice…

    If one is good, more is better. May be in the Bible, I don’t know.

    I’ve read something similar, puddleglum. According to a study on dark chocolate’s effect on hypertension, you would need to eat 9 squares out of a 12 square bar per day of the kind of dark chocolate candy bar with the highest concentration of flavonols (the most expensive kind) in order to realize a modest drop in blood pressure. Not a really cost effective way to treat hypertension, seeing as how you can get a generic ACE inhibitor for $4/month.
